Overthinking Does More Harm Than Good
Overthinking Does More Harm Than Good

Don’t live a life to please others

If you’re reading this article, I assume you’re one of the many people who tend to overthink excessively. Whether you lack confidence, are self-conscious, shy, or simply worry about what others think about you, then you’re among the many who feel the same way. Overthinking will cause you to miss out on more opportunities than you could ever imagine.

I’ve come across this topic several times before with individuals who are afraid to speak up, meet new people, or even live life to its fullest potential because they care too much about what others think of them.

They are in a constant worry that they will get made fun of, talked negatively upon, rejected, or embarrassed. Fearing what people think is like living in a room with no windows, no light, no doors and no hope.

This mindset affects who we are and causes us to become less like ourselves and more like everyone else. In addition, it makes us fearful of how others perceive us, so we become too paralyzed to take any action. Don’t be afraid to do something just because you’re scared of what people are going to say about you. People will judge you regardless. They will always have something to say, they will always go against you and they will always try to make you feel inferior. But realize, for as much as we know, this is your one life and your only opportunity.  So, why not make the best of it?

Personally, I believe there are so many talented and gifted individuals out there that are still undiscovered and undervalued because of their overthinking. Consider the artists, celebrities, entrepreneurs and millionaires who’ve acquired massive success because they don’t care how people react to their ideas. There are many others out there who might be better or smarter, but they quit or never make an attempt to try.

Many people, especially ignorant people, want to punish you for speaking the truth, for being correct, for being you. Never apologize for being correct, or for being years ahead of your time. If you’re right and you know it, speak your mind. Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth

If you believe in your mind that someone is thinking negative about you then that’s exactly what they are going to be doing in your own mind. You’re literally convincing yourself to believe in something that may or may not be true!

Instead of being so negative, do the exact opposite. Believe that everyone will look up to you as a role model.  You should believe that they appreciate and admire all that you do. Whether it’s true or not, believe in it so that you’re not crippled by the imagination of them thinking otherwise.

Become careless of what others think about you. You are you and no matter how hard they try, nobody in this world can ever be you. Your uniqueness is what differentiates you from the world, therefore embrace your individuality and sense of identity.

Stop overthinking and START DOING

Take action. Make mistakes. Go fail in front of everyone watching. There’s a reason why they’re the ones watching YOU and not the other way around. While they stay complacent and judgmental you will be growing and becoming more than they will ever be. Becoming successful begins with believing in your self. People will talk behind your back carelessly but nevertheless they will always be behind you because you’re too busy leading the way in front of them.
